They introduce new hires to the organisation by creating individual specific posts in a company-wide group and encourage existing employees to welcome the new ones with open arms.
They also create a safe environment for new hires by forming a community for them in a group called ‘Newbies’. The on-boarding team adds the fun element by sharing pictures and videos from their orientation session in this group. The new hires are encouraged to start engaging on Workplace by sharing their testimonials right after day-1 induction. The group cover picture changes every week to show the group photograph of new hires of the week.
How to do it in your organisation in three simple steps
- Create an ‘Open’, and ‘Social’ type group called, say, ‘Newbies’. Give posting permission to everyone and allow anyone to become a member of this group [Resources here]
- Share pictures and videos from new hires’ orientation day/week activities on this group and encourage engagement through comments. Update group cover picture every week with a group photograph of that week’s new hires
- Take newbies out of their comfort zone by asking them to make their first post on this group with whatever is top of mind for them, e.g., Introducing themselves, sharing a weird fact, etc. Encourage them by reacting to such posts
