Cultivate sharing and dialogue between distributed employees
Teams across various properties of Ginger Hotels do not get to meet each other in person. The management wanted a way to improve connect and engagement among employees and create a feeling of belonging to the organisation.
They now use Workplace extensively to share pictures and videos of activities and events happening at their various locations. The media rich sharing of events from all locations on common groups makes everyone feel as if they attended the event themselves and enable engagement through comments and reactions. This builds a feeling of community and belonging to the company.
Workplace also enables sharing of best practices and dialogue across locations. People get inspired by best practices shared by their colleagues from other properties and replicate at their location too.
Managers at Ginger Hotels reported in an internal study that they expect 25% lower attrition due to increased employee engagement driven by better ability to connect and share with colleagues.
How to do it in your organisation in three simple steps:
- Create an ‘Open’, ‘Default’, and ‘Social’ group called say ‘Everybody at Company’. Allow posting permissions to everyone. Change the cover picture of the group to something appropriate. Make a pinned post on this group explaining the purpose of this group [Resources here].
- Encourage people to share interesting events and activities from their locations/teams which others may find interesting or useful.
- Ask leadership to browse through this group once a week and react/comment on some posts to motivate the employees.
