Integrate Workplace into intranet
Illumina has integrated Workplace into their intranet to drive personalisation and relevance.
Illumina has created a more targeted and personalized communication platform for its employees by putting in place a Workplace “official group” infrastructure. These official groups are curated on the intranet homepage and synced to employee distribution lists to help “reduce noise” and enable employees see the top post and content most relevant to them (location-specific news and events).
How to do it in your organisation in three simple steps
- Pitch your vision of how a curated and personalized approach to communication will benefit employees and the business to leaders and your IT team. After buy-in, identify what information employees find most valuable (e.g., strategic business news, action-oriented news, and local news and events)
- Create corresponding Workplace groups, working with your IT team to sync appropriate distribution lists. Then refresh your intranet homepage with new Workplace feeds.
- Empower key communicators, explaining how their role as a communicator will get easier with the new structure in place. Use infographics to highlight your new communication structure to employees.
